During my scientific career I have been interested in the identification of the role of autophagy during plant development. To date, I have studied the role of autophagy in very different plants and developmental processes such as programmed cell death during embryos suspensor formation in Norway spruce, gamete differentiation in the moss Physcomitrium patens and during the ripening of strawberry fruit. Now, I am focused in getting a deeper insight into the regulation of autophagy during strawberry ripening and in understanding its role during stress resistance in this important crop for Spanish agriculture.
