Our research focuses on the study of the genetic factors involved in the development of obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus, with an emphasis on their interaction with autophagy and energy metabolism. Specifically, we aim to elucidate the molecular mechanisms that regulate adipose tissue function, exploring potential therapeutic strategies to address obesity and related metabolic disorders. Furthermore, given the crucial role of adipose tissue in the endocrine regulation of energy balance, we investigate its interplay with other metabolically active tissues to better understand the mechanisms that maintain metabolic homeostasis.
