Our main objective is to understand the role of the cilia in the control of energy homeostasis, and specifically in the regulation of autophagy and lipid metabolism. Cilia are called the “antenna” of the cells and are responsible for transmitting specific extracellular information to intracellular signals regulating several metabolic pathways. Therefore, a better understanding of the role these structures play in metabolism is essential to treat metabolic problems derived from ciliopathies.
