Our laboratory is investigating key nodes in signaling networks involved in prevalent age-related pathologies such as metabolic/cardiovascular diseases and cancer. The GRK2 kinase and the Gαq subunit of heterotrimeric G proteins are emerging as central, inter-related signaling hubs in these contexts. The focus of our research will be to understand how concurrent changes in GRK2 expression and Gq-GPCR signaling integrate at the cellular and organism level, and how they can foster disease progression.
