Our group is interested in the relationships between lumenal acidification and autophagy. Particularly in defining the involvement of the different types of primary proton pumps (V-ATPases and H + -pyrophosphatases) of intracellular membranes in this process. Additionally, we are interested in physiologically relevant factors that affect the activity of these pumps and how this results in inhibition or induction of autophagy, as well as other consequences at the cellular level in model organisms such as yeast, Chlamydomonas (microalga) and Arabidopsis (higher plant).
